NARS Guy Bourdin Crime of Passion Eye Cheek and Lip Palette!

 Hello everyone,
I hope you have all had a lovely Christmas week and are looking forward to the New Year.
Today I wanted to talk about the NARS Guy Bourdin Crime of Passion Eye Cheek and Lip Palette that I very gratefully received this Christmas.
The palette includes a lipgloss, three eyeshadows, a blush and a bronzer, so is really handy as everything that you need is in one palette.

The Eyeshadows: The palette comes with 3 beautiful eyeshadows that create a really lovely wearable look. The first shade is Naiade, a shimmery champagne shade that is beautiful for an 'all over the lid' colour. Next is Jezebel, a shimmery warm sable shade that is perfect for a crease colour as it helps to add definition and depth to the eyes. Lastly is Pandora, a matte black that is great for a soft liner colour or for a smokey eye if used in the crease. Naiade and Jezebel are both limited edition shades, but overall the quality of all the eyeshadows is excellent. They apply and blend really easily, are very pigmented and last really well throughout the day.

You then flip up the eyeshadows to reveal the blusher and bronzer.
The Blush: The blush in the palette is NARS's infamous Deep Throat blush. It is a pretty shimmery pink/peach shade that adds a pop of colour to the cheeks. It is very wearable and also lasts really well throughout the day.

The Bronzer: The bronzer in the palette is Laguna, a product that I have always wanted to try but have always  thought it would be too dark or orange for my fair skin. However, since using the palette Laguna has quickly become one of my favourite parts of it as it isn't too dark or orange, and actually blends into the skin really well to leave a beautiful bronzed look. It is a warm bronzy colour with golden shimmer running throughout it, and I like to wear it by blending it just under my cheekbones to slightly contour the face and add colour.

The Lipgloss: The mini lipgloss in the palette is in the colour Deep Throat, so similar to the blush it is a pretty shimmery pink. Although this lipgloss is slightly sticky, it still leaves a beautiful colour to the lips and lasts really well throughout the day, even through eating and drinking.

Overall I absolutely adore this palette. It is so handy as it has almost everything you need to create a really lovely look, and I find all of the products in it are excellent quality.
If you would like to see the palette in action, I used it here for my Christmas makeup.
The Crime of Passion palette is limited edition, so I would definitely recommend trying to pick this up as soon as possible.

Let me know if you have tried any of the NARS Guy Bourdin products!

Thank you for reading and Happy New Year!

Festive Makeup #3 | My Christmas Day Makeup

Hello everyone,
I hope all of you had a very merry Christmas and are having a fun Boxing Day.
Today I wanted to share with you the last of my mini 'Festive Makeup' series with the makeup look I did on Christmas day.
Like an excited child, I wanted to try out the new makeup I very gratefully received, and so the star of the show in this look is the NARS Guy Bourdin Crime of Passion Cheek and Lip palette. I will be doing a full review on the palette soon, but in it includes 3 eyeshadows, a mini lipgloss, Deep Throat blush and Laguna bronzer. It is such a lovely makeup palette that would be perfect for travel and everyday use as it has almost everything you need to create a really nice look in it.
To start off with, I once again used the L'Oreal Lumi Magique foundation to create a lovely, glowy base, and the Bobbi Brown Corrector and NARS Radiant Creamy concealer under my eyes to cancel out my dark circles. I then used the Soap and Glory One Heck of a Blot powder to set my base.
I then used the eyeshadows from the NARS Guy Bourdin palette to create my eye look. Firstly, I took the shade Naiade, a shimmery champagne shade all over the lid. I then used the colour Jezebel, a shimmery warm sable shade in the crease to add definition and to smoke out the look a bit. I then took the last shade, Pandora, a matte black, as a soft liner on my upper lash line. I also took Jezebel underneath my eyes. To finish the eyes I used the Max Factor Clump Defy mascara.
To finish off the skin, I used from the NARS Guy Bourdin palette the Laguna bronzer to slightly warm up my skin and add definition. I then used the blusher in Deep Throat to add a pop of colour to my cheeks.
Lastly, I used my Mac lipstick in Rebel and the NARS Deep Throat lipgloss that comes in the Guy Bourdin palette on my lips to complete the look.

So that was my Christmas makeup. I really hope you have enjoyed this mini festive makeup series I have done, and perhaps got some inspiration to the makeup you may wear during the festive season.

Merry Christmas!

Festive Makeup #2 | Fresh and Natural

 Hello everyone,
Merry Christmas Eve!
Today I wanted to share with you another makeup look that I think may be really nice for the festive time of year.
It is quite a simple and natural look, but it has a slight twist of a dark purple winged eyeliner. I think this type of makeup look would be really nice maybe for Christmas day as it is fresh and super simple to do.

I started off by once again using my L'Oreal Lumi Magique foundation as it gives good coverage yet is glowy and natural. I then used the Maybelline Fit Me concealer under my eyes as it covers my dark circles but feels natural and light. I then set my base using the Soap and Glory One Heck of a Blot powder.
For the eyes I wanted something light and shimmery, so I used the Bobbi Brown Metallic eye shadow in Champagne Quartz all over the lid. As the name suggests, this eyeshadow has an almost metallic look so is super shimmery. To add definition to the crease and to slightly cut down the shimmer, I used the shade Naked 2 from the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette which is a really lovely matte light brown. For something a little different, I did a winged eyeliner using the Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in Violet Ink to give my eyes some more definition and to add a slight twist to the makeup look. I finished off the eyes by using the Max Factor Clump Defy mascara.
To finish off the skin, I used my Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel Luminous Bronzing Powder in Sable Rose to add a warm glow to my skin. I then used the Mac Extra Dimension Skinfinish highlighter in Whisper of Gilt to my cheekbones for that extra glow.
Lastly, I used the Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Native for that natural, pretty pink for the lips.

So that is the second Christmas makeup look. I really hope you perhaps got some inspiration to the makeup you may wear tomorrow for Christmas Day or just for a simple makeup day.

OPI Wonderous Star | The Accent Nail

 Hello everyone,
Today I wanted to share with you OPI Wonderous Star which I am currently in love with.
I always love OPI nail polishes as the quality is so good and they are really easy to apply, and this one is defintely no exception.
It is a beautiful gold glitter with black specks running throughout it, so perfect for the festive season. Today I used it as an accent nail polish by just applying 2 coats to my ring finger. I paired it with OPI Black Cherry Chutney, which I talked more about here, as it is one of my favourite Autumn/Winter colours.
I personally think they go really well together, but I also think you could pair Wonderous Star with any other colour. You could also use it by itself or as a top coat over any nail polish you wanted.

Overall I am so in love with this nail polish as it is so pretty and amazing quality.
It will be amazing for Christmas and New Years, and as an accent nail I also love it as it is so sparkly.

Let me know if you have tried OPI's Wonderous Star!

Festive Makeup #1 | The Plum Eye and Nude Lip

Hello everyone,
Over the next few days I really want to do some makeup looks that hopefully may give you some inspiration as to the makeup you may decide to wear during the festive season.
The look today is a bronzed smokey eye with a slight plum twist to it and a nude lip, which I think may be really nice for a Christmas party or perhaps for New Years Eve.
I am sorry that the photos have slightly washed out the eye look, as in real life the eyeshadow has more of a plum look to it.
For my base, I used my much loved L'Oreal Lumi Magique foundation which provides medium coverage and a gorgeous satin finish. I then took my Bobbi Brown Corrector and NARS Radiant Creamy concealer under my eyes to cancel out my dark circles. I finished off the skin by setting it with the Soap and Glory One Heck of a Blot powder.
For the eyes I used two eyeshadows from the MUA Heaven and Earth palette. This is an amazing palette as you can create so many looks from it and the quality of the shadows is so good. The eyeshadows don't have names, but I took from the top row the 3rd colour from the right, a beautiful champagne colour, and ran that over my lid as a base. I then took the eyeshadow on the top row 2nd to the right, a gorgeous plum bronze colour, and focused that in my crease. I then blended the colours together, and took the same darker shadow on my lower lashline.
To finish my eyes I used the Max Factor Clump Defy mascara.
To give my skin a slight shimmer, I used the Mac Extra Dimension Skinfinish highlighter along my cheekbones. Then for blush I used the Tarte Amazonian Clay blush in Exposed which is a very natural blush as the eyes were quite heavy.
I wanted my lips to be a natural colour as I think this can look really pretty during this time of year, and I also didn't want anything clashing with the eyes. Therefore I used my Mac lipstick in A Perfect Day.

So that is the first of my Christmas makeup looks.
I really hope you liked this post and maybe got some inspiration to what makeup you may wear during the festive season.

Avene Cleanance Mask!

Hello everyone,
Following on from my last post, today I wanted to talk about the Avene Cleanance Mask.
After Anna from Viviannadoesmakeup talked about this mask, I really wanted to give it a try as she was saying how it was very effective at cleansing the skin, but wasn't too trying.

After using this mask about 2 times a week, I am very happy with the results.
The texture is similar to that of a clay mask, so it is quite thick and creamy. When applying it to the skin (I focus around the t-zone area), you can feel small micro-beads that help to exfoliate your skin. I let it dry for about 5 minutes then wash it off with warm water.
After this my skin doesn't feel too dry or like it has been stripped, it just feels very clean and smooth.
I have definitely noticed an improvement in my skin since using this mask. My breakouts are smaller and the blemishes I had have significantly reduced in size and are less red. My skin looks a lot clearer, which I am super happy with.

So far I am loving this face mask as it isn't too drying, has cleared up my skin and is a 2-in-one, a face mask and an exfoliant.
Although it is quite pricey at £15, I do think it is worth it.

Let me know if you have tried any of the Avene skincare!

Avene Hydrance Optimale Light Hydrating Cream!

 Hello everyone,
Today I wanted to talk about a new favourite moisturiser of mine. It is the Avene Hydrance Optimale Light Hydrating Cream which is suited for normal to combination sensitive skin that is dehydrated. I got this because although my skin is quite oily, my cheeks especially were feeling really dehydrated due to the cold weather. I was hoping that the Avene moisturiser would help to relieve my dehydrated skin without making it too oily.

Luckily, this Avene moisturiser has delivered. It is light in texture and doesn't feel heavy at all on the skin, but it is really moisturising and makes my skin feel so soft and smooth.
I find it to give my skin a healthy glow which isn't greasy at all, and I find the moisture to last throughout the day.
The cream is really easy to apply and massage in, and it has a very pleasant scent.
The only downside is that it is quite pricey at £13.50 for a 40ml tube, but I personally think it is worth it.
I apply this morning and night, but there is a version that has UV protection which would be really good in the day, and if you do have dry skin, they have a richer version which is more moisturising.

Overall I love this moisturiser as I find it moisturises my skin really well yet doesn't feel too heavy or oily. It is definitely a really good everyday moisturiser for people who have oily and dehydrated skin.

Let me know if you have tried any of the Avene skincare!

Mac Divine Night Mineralize Blush in 'Talk of the Town'

 Hello everyone,
Whilst Christmas shopping, I saw the new Mac Holiday Collection, Divine Lights. As I was lusting over all of the limited edition products, I fell in love with the mineralize blush called 'Talk of the Town'.
I really liked it as it was different to anything I currently own, and of course the gorgeous shimmer and rosy gold colour meant I couldn't resist.
Even looking in the pan, this blush is gorgeous. A mix of bronzy gold and a rosy pink together make such a pretty, unique colour, and the added shimmer makes it a very festive blush.

If you like shimmery blushes, then you need this one in your life. It is super shimmery but I personally love it because it makes your skin look so glowy and radiant.
The colour pay off isn't brilliant, but once applied to your cheeks it just gives them a subtle flush of colour, which I think looks really pretty.
I like to take a small amount on a small fluffy brush and apply it to my cheekbones and then slightly blend it out and I find that this is one of the best ways of applying it. You can definitely go a bit overboard with this blush, so only use a small amount and gradually build it up.
The quality of this blush is really good as I find it lasts all day and doesn't really need touching up.
For the festive season, this blush is so perfect, and I can also see it being beautiful in the Summer months when you want that bronzed, rosy glow.

Overall I really do love the Mac 'Talk of the Town' Mineralize blush. As it is part of the Divine Lights collection it is limited edition so I recommend you to pick one quickly at your nearest Mac counter before they sell out.

Let me know if you have tried any products from the Mac Divine Lights collection!

November Favourites!

 Hello everyone,
Today I wanted to share with you my November favourites.
I haven't really tried or bought too many things this month, however, the few things I have been using I have been loving and using pretty much everyday.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel
This month I have really been enjoying using this La Roche-Posay cleanser as I find that it cleanses my skin really well and removes any traces of makeup and impurities. In the morning it is also really nice and refreshing, and I find it works really well with my more oily skin. I spoke more about this cleanser here, but highly recommend it if you do have oily skin.

Essie Aruba Blue
Although I only really got this nail polish towards the end of November I still love it so much, and I guess it has been a favourite of the end of the month. It is a stunning vibrant royal blue that I think you could wear all year round, but if you would like to see what it looks like on the nails, I showed pictures here. The formula is also amazing and I can see myself wearing it non-stop throughout the upcoming months.

L'Oreal Lumi Magique Foundation
I bought this foundation at the beginning of the month and have pretty much worn it every day since. It is close to my perfect foundation that I have tried as the coverage is enough for everyday as it evens out my skin and covers redness and blemishes, but is light enough to wear on a daily basis, and the finish is a beautiful glow that is neither too dewy or too matte. The foundation also lasts all day, is really easy to apply and doesn't break me out. The only downside is that the colour match isn't perfect, but if you would like to see what it looks like on, click here.

MUA Heaven and Earth Eyeshadow Palette
Similarly to the L'Oreal foundation, I bought the MUA palette towards the beginning of the month and have not stopped using it. Most days for college I use one of the lighter shades (usually on the left hand side of the palette) and blend it all over the lid and a touch under the eye to create a really natural, sort of smokey-ish look that is so quick and easy to do.
I love it so much and for £4 you cannot go wrong. For swatches and a full review, click here.

So they are my November favourites.
I really hope you enjoyed this post, and let me know what your November favourites are down below!

Thank you,

Essie Aruba Blue!

 Hello everyone,
Today I wanted to share with you Essie Aruba Blue nail polish.
After seeing Kate from Ghostparties wear this nail polish in one of her videos, I knew I had to have it. I instantly fell in love with the vibrant blue colour as it is a colour that is completely different to my other nail polishes.
It is a gorgeous vibrant royal blue which when in direct sunlight has a blue shimmer running through it. I personally think it is a colour you can wear all year round as it has that summer brightness but festive shimmer.
The application was super easy and the longevity of the nail polish was really good.
And I actually got quite a lot of compliments from people saying that they loved the colour, which is always a good sign!
Overall I think Essie Aruba Blue is a great addition to add to my nail polishes as it is so gorgeous and really different to any of my nail polishes I currently own.
Let me know if you have tried Essie Aruba Blue!

Dove Refresh and Care Dry Shampoo!

  Hello everyone,
Today I wanted to talk about the new Dove Refresh and Care Dry shampoo.
I personally love dry shampoos because they instantly liven up your hair and add volume, and they can give you an extra day before having to wash your hair again.
So when I saw the new release from Dove I was really intrigued to try it out, especially as I had heard really good reviews.

I really love the scent of this dry shampoo as it smells like normal shampoo so is quite sweet and floral. It is also really easy to massage into your hair without getting any white/grey patches which I find some dry shampoos can leave no matter how much you massage it in. Obviously with all dry shampoos you want it to do a good job of absorbing the oil and making your hair look fresh, and I personally think it does the job really well.
Not only does it absorb any oil, but it adds quite a lot of volume and texture to my hair which I actually think looks really nice.
I have only one gripe with this product and that is if you spray on too much, it can leave your hair feeling quite heavy and tacky as if it is being weighed down by the dry shampoo. It really isn't pleasant so I do suggest going lightly with this product.

Overall though I really do like this as a dry shampoo. It smells amazing, makes my hair look and feel fresh and adds volume to it.

Let me know if you have tried the Dove Refresh and Care Dry Shampoo!

Thank you,

Autumn Makeup #2 | Mac Rebel

 Hello everyone,
Today I wanted to share with you an Autumn/Fall makeup look I wear most days, and I also really wanted to show you some products I have really been loving and using a lot lately.
I have been using the L'Oreal Lumi Magique foundation most days since I bought it. I love it for everyday because the medium coverage and satin finish looks really natural, and I find during the Autumn and Winter when my skin feels more dehydrated the more moisturising formula really helps my skin.
I have reverted back to my old, trusty combo for underneath my eyes - Bobbi Brown corrector and NARS Radiant Creamy concealer. The Bobbi Brown corrector corrects any blue/purple tones and the NARS concealer conceals any other darkness and is amazing for concealing any angry blemishes. Both together they work like a dream!
Blusher I used NARS Deep Throat which provides the most natural yet gorgeous blush to my cheeks, and I have been loving the Mac Extra Dimension Skin Finish Highlighter in 'Whisper of Gilt' for that extra glow. I then simply dust the Soap and Glory One Heck of a Blot over my t-zone.
For the eyes I used the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in 'On and On Bronze' which gives a super pretty bronzed look to the eyes. I pat this on with my finger to my lid and blend it out in the crease using my Mac 217 brush, which I find helps to really define my crease. I then used the Max Factor Clump Defy mascara which is a perfect everyday mascara.
The finishing touch is of course a dark lip which I have been obsessed with this Autumn. I am so in love with Mac Rebel lipstick which I have been wearing a lot recently. It is the perfect pinky plum shade that suits any skintone as it can be patted on sheerly or built up to an opaque colour.

So that is my super easy everyday Autumn/Fall makeup look.
As I said all of these products I have been really loving recently, and have been working really well for me.

I hope you enjoyed this post, and thank you for reading,

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel!

Hello everyone,
Today I wanted to talk about the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel.
I was after a new cleanser to try out, and especially now that we are in the colder months I find although my skin is still oily, it also feels and looks dehydrated.
I was really attracted to the La Roche-Posay cleanser because it is designed for oily sensitive skin and so is soap-free, which I was hoping would be less drying but still suited for more oily skin types.

This cleanser is a gel cleanser and so is particularly good if you have more oily skin as it is very refreshing and leaves your skin feeling really clean.
It hasn't completely cleared up my skin as I still do have breakouts, however what I love is that after I use this cleanser my skin never feels stripped or too dry.
However, I do always need to moisturise after I use this as my skin is still left feeling tight, but it hasn't dried out my skin which may be because it is soap free.
It does have a slightly fragrance, similar to the Effaclar Duo moisturiser, that I am not that keen on but I get used to it really quickly and I find that it doesn't irritate my skin.

So far I really do like this cleanser. Although it hasn't cleared up my skin, it still does leave my skin feeling refreshed and clean which I find to be really nice in the morning and in the evening.

Let me know if you have tried the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel!

MUA Heaven and Earth Eyeshadow Palette!

Hello everyone,
As someone who has very little time to get ready in the morning, I am always on the look out for products that are easy and quick to apply.
I really love wearing a simple eyeshadow look for the daytime, but needed some 'one-wash' wonders that mean I can swipe on a colour and be good to go.
After hearing amazing reviews about the MUA eyeshadow palettes, I decided to give the Heaven and Earth palette a whirl as all of the colours looked super wearable and natural.

The Heaven and Earth palette has 12 eyeshadows, all of which are shimmer.
They are all super natural and wearable shades that make this palette so versatile.
Unfortunately the eyeshadows don't have names, but as you can there are a few really pretty, shimmery champagne highlight colours, several shimmery warm toned browns and golds, and several cooler, taupe coloured browns.
You can mix and match to create beautiful smokey eyes, or what I like to do, take any one of the eyeshadows and wash it all over the lid, particularly focusing the colour in the crease. I find this creates a really pretty look for daytime and it is so easy and quick to do.
Pigmentation wise, all of the eyeshadows are nicely pigmented, and I find none of them to be powdery or chalky. The texture of the eyeshadows are smooth and almost creamy.
There is no fall out with these and they apply really easily.
The eyeshadows also last all day on me and only begin to fade and crease after about 8 hours, which I think is really impressive.
And the best part? This palette will only set you back £4, bargain!

Overall I am really impressed with the Heaven and Earth palette.
Despite being only £4, the eyeshadows have a lovely texture, last all day and are super pretty wearable shades.

Let me know if you have tried any of the MUA eyeshadow palettes and what you think of them!

Thank you,
Claire x
